Architecture + Interior Photography

Will Ellis is a Brooklyn-based architectural photographer specializing in residential and commercial interiors. His clients include architects, interior designers, developers, and brands in the New York area and beyond.

Will's practice is marked by acute attention to detail through every stage of the process, from the framing of a shot to the careful retouching of eyesores and imperfections. His images rely on bright whites and graphic composition for visual impact, using soft, natural light whenever possible.  During production, he takes a collaborative, ego-free approach to image-making, valuing the give and take between photographer and client that is essential to any successful architectural shoot.

The end result is precise, natural imagery, with a narrative focus—pictures that not only capture environments, but the way we live and work within them.  To see more of Will's work, click through his general portfolio, explore by category, or check out a selection of featured projects below.

From ultra-modern penthouses to the time-worn textures of a historic home, Will’s attention to detail and deep understanding of interior design aesthetics result in consistently precise, eye-catching photography while making space for a wide range of moods and architectural styles.

In the competitive retail landscape of NYC’s shopping districts, store openings require efficient, cost-effective interior photography that’s destined to serve a huge variety of uses—images that feels equally at home in fashion and design publications as it does on your Google Business listing and social feeds.

The office space has come a long way since the cubicle. With a decade of experience capturing workplaces across NYC—from industry giants like Google, Microsoft, and WeWork to boutique Brooklyn co-working spaces—Will’s work skillfully captures the unique culture and energy cultivated by each firm.

Whether it's the cozy corners of a Brooklyn restaurant, the intimate charm of an East Village boutique hotel, the Instagram-worthy spectacle of a Chicago ice cream museum, or the vibrant energy of a Long Island hockey stadium, Will captures the authentic ambiance and immersive experiences of hospitality venues across the city.

About Will

Will Ellis.jpg

Will Ellis is a Brooklyn-based architectural photographer.  After studying filmmaking at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Will found himself increasingly drawn to still image-making, and began pursuing photography in earnest.

His unusual path to interior photography began in an abandoned warehouse in Red Hook.  Over three years of photographing and researching New York's modern ruins, Will became a noted chronicler of the city's forgotten places, releasing his first photo book, Abandoned NYC, in 2015.  In the process, he discovered a passion for capturing spaces.

Today, Will focuses on his commercial practice, photographing residential and commercial interiors for architects, designers, and brands while pursuing personal projects in his spare time.  His work has appeared in Interior Design, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, NY Cottages and Gardens, and the New York Times to name a few.
